Who said it was easier the second time around? I started Act II yesterday, but over two days I have yet to finish one single scene. It's just not coming as easily. Of course, a large part of that has to do with the fact that I haven't gotten enough sleep four nights in a row, and my brain isn't quite working. Part of the lack of sleep has been due to getting this web site overhauled! But I've at least got most of the dialogue sequences written; what's tripping me up is the song. The rhythm is all over the place; I feel like I'm not getting enough information across; is it not spectacular enough as an act opener? I have the idea, at least...I'm sure if I can actually get some sleep tonight I might make some headway by coming at it with a fresh eye tomorrow. If not, then I am simply going to move on to Scene 2, because at least that's just dialogue. One thing I feel fairly good about is that I already feel like I'm finding Ewan's voice, which, given how little information there is about him that isn't second-hand, I've been worried about doing. But let me not count all my ministers before they hatch. I just hate writing scenes piecemeal; I'm too much of a perfectionist that I want it to come out ready for the stage the first time!
